Ryuuji Otogi
He is creator of a game called Dungeon Dice Monsters.He also owned a game shop that rivaled Yuugi's grandpa company. Otogi did not start out as a good guy. He was arrogant and bragged a lot about his skills.Otogi is first introduced in episode 46. Yuugi's grandpa is a little upset with the competition and their lack of respect of gaming traditions.Otogi had ulterior motives from the beginning. He was going to get Yuugi into the DDM ring and take his "King of Games" title. Then he could use his victory to promote Dungeon Dice Monsters. He wanted to defeat Yuugi because Yuugi defeated his idol Pegasus and ruined his dreams of making DDM worldwide.
He started out by dueling Jounuchi. Jounuchi challenged him after being conned. If Jounuchi lost he would have to do whatever Otogi said for a week. Jounuchi does end up losing and Otogi makes him wear a dog suit and act like a dog. After seeing Jounuchi humiliated, Yuugi finally challenges him. If Yuugi wins, Jounuchi can go free. If Otogi wins, Yuugi will never duel again. During the duel, Otogi wonders if Yuugi could have really beat the great Pegasus.
After his loss, he tells them in his office that since his dream is crushed there's nothing left. But Yuugi and the rest tell him his game has potential. Otogi does apologize to Jounuchi for the humiliation and Jounuchi doesn't hold a grudge so all was forgiven. He does get a contract from Industrial Illusion so it all ended well for everyone. Because of his defeat by Yuugi, Otogi changes towards the group and they become friends. Honda even asks Otogi to teach him DDM and he agrees.
Otogi isn't seen again until Battle City.Unfortunately when he reutrns he's more a background character.He's first seen helping out Honda and Shizuka when they're trying to escape from the Ghouls. He's a bit shocked that Jounuchi would have such a lovely sister like Shizuka. Otogi, Honda and Shizuka end up being taken to Jounuchi's duel by Mai. Shizuka was going to remove her bandages but Anzu told her not to because she didn't want that to be the first thing Shizuka saw. But when Jounuchi is pulled into the river, Shizuka takes off her bandages and saves her big brother.
During most of Battle City Honda and Otogi both have a crush on Shizuka and both have "moments" with her but she doesn't seem too interested in anything besides friendship (for now.)They both do everything they can to impress her. But during Noa's Arc Honda makes the ultimate sacrifice for Shizuka. Honda, Otogi and Shizuka are fighting one of the members of the big five. He finally tells her the truth and that he didn't teach her brother how to duel. Honda also tells Otogi he better take care of Shizuka. After that Shizuka doesn't want to fight anymore. She's too upset at what happened to her friend.Otogi encourages her to get up and luckily her brother gets there in time to encourage her.
After Battle City is over Otogi says his farewells to them all to go back to the U.S. but not before slipping Shizuka his number. He is seen in the Doma saga (Filler series) and he's still one of the friends in Yuugi's group. He does duel once with Rebecca as his partner against Valon.but for the remainder of his time in the series, he's just a secondary character.
